A delightful picture of Bures, a pleasing collection of villages which straddle the river Stour and the county boundary with Suffolk.This picture shows the type of architecture so common hereabouts, although these particular buildings are just over the border into Suffolk. The photographer has also caught two boys playing on a pedal cycle.

The Café was run during the majority of the 1970s by an Austrian couple, Norbert and Paula. Paula could have been German, the family moved to Austria after their tenure ended.
The children if memory serves me correctly were Heide, Peter and Becki. Our families were friends from when the family lived in Wickham Bishops. Paula and my mother (Inge) were great friends who stayed in contact for many years after the family moved to Austria, but alas contact was lost.
After the war, the cafe was owned by Mr Frank W & Mrs Cecile Gunston, I know this because I married their daughter Margaret. It was the Gunstons that gave the cafe its name.
My dad and mum owned the Threeways Cafe in Bures for a while in the late 1950s, they where Eddie and Margaret Morris. If anyone remembers them I would like to see their memories. Mary
