More about this scene
On the south side of this view is the London House store of house furnishers Walter Baker Northover and Son. Colmer's Hill is the distinctive distant hilltop(centre). On the north side of the street the confident commercial frontage is that of the Wilts and Dorset Bank, which was absorbed into Lloyds (right). Down the slope is the sign of the Royal Oak Hotel (above the hand-cart) and the shop window of butchers W and R Fletcher Ltd (two ladies passing), with a painter on a ladder further down the hill.
