Rasc 31 Coy Derring Lines

A Memory of Brecon.

I came to Brecon in 1957, I think I had been here in another life as the place was so familiar, it was like coming home.
My Army days in Brecon were great, Peg;s Café by the bus station, the café at Camden corner, the café at the top of the hill, the place was brilliant.
The people so friendly, Mr & Mrs Price, he worked at the PO and Mrs worked for the Army, then Mrs Hawkins from Talgarth, Beryl in the NAAFI and Molly from Llangynach I think.
Wasn't a drinker so never really went to the pubs except the three horseshoes.
I used to hitch hike some evenings down the valleys and hike back on the steel lorries, getting lifts was no problem.
I have been back to Brecon on occasions and find it has changed but it still feels like home.
We had a lad Deacon whose parents had a fair, wonder if he is still about, remember the town being closed to traffic for the fair.
To the people of Brecon thanks for your hospitality, second to none. Ted Lay
