More about this scene
The Great Barn, or Tithe Barn, is part of Barton Manor Farm, which comprises 8 or 9 buildings grouped around a large open courtyard. According to 'The Historic Building Survey' of 1998, the barn complex was scheduled an Ancient Monument in 1930, with Listed Building status given to the adjacent buildings. Pevsner describes the 15th-century granary (left) as 'a tour-de-force without the monumental simplicity of the barn'. It is now restored and houses a pine furniture business. To the far right is the end of the West Barn (possibly late 13th- century), which appeared in the English Heritage 'at risk' register in June 2001. Restoration has now been completed by Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust.
