More about this scene
Bognor, like many Sussex resorts, was a popular site for convalescent homes. This one, the Princess Mary Memorial Hospital and Victorian Convalescent Home for Surrey Women, shortened not surprisingly to the name in the caption, was opened by Queen Alexandra in 1906. Built in an unpopular architectural style to modern eyes, it was demolished in 1980 to be replaced by the truly dismal Berkeley Court. Seaside and Coastal Sussex: From Bosham to Rye
