A Selection of Memories from Bisley

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Bisley

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Bisley School pupil Barry Evans around 1954-59. Was later a very well known TV Star in the 60's in such programmes as Dr in the House & Dr at large series as the character Dr Michael Upton, before being in 'Mind your Language' as a teacher. These were very popular television shows. Sadly he died at only 53yrs of age in 1997.
My memories of growing up in bisley are newer then the ones on here I grew up in the 1970's my grandad lived on bisley common and when the houses were built on Shaftesbury road he brought on of the first ones which my mum was born In and. And I went to bisley C of E school along with my brothers we had great fun playing in the woods opposite our house and at the park on the witches hat.
I went to Shaftesbury school as a day boy, along with Syd Binstead, David Collyer, John Lucas etc, my father Stan Burdett was the school engineer and we lived at No 1 The Firs in Bisley. As a lot of you probably know the school is now Coldingly prison.
Would anyone have any memory of my Dad being at Bisley Boys school , not sure quite when but think it would be sometime between 1914 1925. Or if any one has any photos of that time. Would dearly love to hear from you. Dads name was Robert Frederick Baker and came from Heybridge Christina
