Childhood
A Memory of Billingshurst.
I grew up in Billingshurst. My father Barrie Hunt, was the local police officer between 1969 and 1976.
My mum Freda Hunt helped with cleaning the old village hall and the vicarage as well as helping at jumble sales
. The police station resided between two houses on the top of Coombe Road the station is now gone.
I have so many happy memories and so many friends that I now never see.
From the 15th century restaurant to the old school to the walk into forest in the middle of the village.
Those early years of my life are my most treasured memories... Leaving the village at 8 years of age had a huge impact on me.
One story that was recalled last year was about, how, during the power cuts of the 1970s my dad had to drive around the village informing people about the lighting regulations.
This didn't seem to apply to my mum, who chose to ignore dad until he came home to see every light on in the house.
My own memories of that affair is a red faced man joking in candle light.
I don't know if many old residents who knew my mum and dad are on this Web page, however, if you are, I'd feel it important to let you all know that mum died in 2012 and dad passed in June last year.

I do have some photos of jumble sales if you are interested.
Please let me know.
