More about this scene
The delightful open-fronted small shops are still largely unchanged today. On the left is the Pannier Market, built in 1885, a grand construction with a wooden vaulted roof of cathedral-like proportions. Market Days are Tuesday and Friday. Friday is also Cattle Market day, and the town heaves with people, augmented in summer by visitors.
