I remember the little sweet shop in the swimming pool accessed from both sides of the stream by the bridge. I lived in 57 Ferndale Road during the seventies, and was related to the Stone family on the corner.
I lived in ferndale rd ,next to the swimming pool from 1942 to 1959 ,went to Clarendon rd , woodthorpe rd and stanwell rd school. It was great living across the road from the park and the stream, trees to climb, fish ,tadpoles and newts to catch and take home only to be told to tip them back into the stream! Although living along side the pool I never learnt to swim and to this day I'm still scared of water ...see more
I have fond memories of being in Mr Birch's class with its big arched window and back stairs where he would lead us for 20 minutes of the Ring Game before lunch. There was a pottery room too but I never saw it used all the time I was there. I remember at playtime sneaking over the shop to but Bazooka Joe's bubble gum.Like all schools there were nice teachers and the ones you avoided .I remember you ...see more
I ATTENDED HERE FROM 1952 TO 1959. MANY FOND MEMORIES BUT ESPECIALLY MR DAVY MY CHEMISTRY MASTER WHO HELPED ME TO GAIN ADMITTANCE TO IMPERIAL COLLEGE AND A DEGREE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. LONG GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.......THANKS MATT !!! JAMES INGRAM
