Abingdon, High Street From Town Hall Roof 1900

More about this scene
Frith's photographer was looking west down the High Street from the Town Hall roof. In the far distance the road curves into Ock Street, which is also lined by old buildings. Nearer to the camera, the High Street narrows at the junction with West St Helen Street. The wider section in the foreground was once part of the market place, a westward extension from the Market Place itself.
