Sandown, The Pier c.1951

More about this scene
Sandown's pier was originally built to allow steamers to come near to shore. The early structure fought a valiant battle against the worst of the channel storms, but managed to survive. When this photograph was taken Bill Scott Gordon's 'Revels of 1951' was the hit show at the pier theatre.
