More about this scene
The pier was built in 1903 by the Coastal Development Company to enable visitors to arrive by Belle steamers - the company ran a service between London and Yarmouth. To the left are the 'second-class' houses of Marine Parade, the spire of St John's church, built in 1853, and the 'first-class' houses of the Esplanade.
