More about this scene

Sheaf Street did not survive modernisation and the buildings on the right, as far as the Dutch blind over the shop window, were swept away for the modern Foundry Walk shopping arcade. In the distance to the north, earlier housing estates, mostly Pre-War and 1950s, can be seen - the Development Corporation plans mainly expanded the town to the south and north-east.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

This pub was run by my grandfather and his wife around about 1910. They were John Percy Kingston and his wife Maggie Lizzy.. There were tales of many local characters who came into the pub . I believe the pub let rooms for the night and sported a sign at that time advertising 'Accommodation for Motorists'.
