More about this scene
In 1873, this wonder of nature had a quarrymen's village at its entrance. The cottages on the left remain beyond the millpond; the row behind were built in 1667 and are now the Cheddar Toy and Model Museum. The house on the bend is now Derrick's Tea Rooms and Restaurant, but the cottages on the right went for road widening. Beyond now is an 1933 International Modern- style flat-roofed restaurant, besides other modern cafes and souvenir shops.
