More about this scene
This view is taken from the meadow beside the canal, the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal, which opened in 1815. The meadow is now occupied by 1990s housing, Hilda Wharf. The factory is part of the Aylesbury Condensed Milk Company's works, which opened in 1870; it is now (in 2000) part of Nestle's. The left-hand bay's top storey has gone and the ground floor windows are mostly blocked, but the building remains in use.
