Heyes Lane
A Memory of Alderley Edge.
I lived at 100 heyes lane. Alderley edge. For about five years from 1950 to 1955. Went to Alderley edge school. Teacher mrs Gibson. My name then was Ann Christina Taylor. My father grew vegetables on his allotment. He worked for ICI in wilmslow. I remember a man selling goldfish in bottles at the entrance to school lane. Remember milk bottles thawing out around the classroom fire. Going up to the edge and the Sandhills. We left in 1955 to immigrate to Melbourne Australia. I remember snow and a sledge at the stream at the end of heyes lane. And daffodils in spring. Farmer Potts annoyed with us when we tramped through his field at the back of our house. My name now is Ann Warnes. I am an artist and live in the blue mountains. I remember a girl called Janet next door. So many memories. I visited three years ago and saw the house. It still has FERN LEA sign. Blue mountains Sydney Australia.
